It’s just one of those days.

Your back hurts,
You’re tired,
He’s tired.

He is crying,
Screaming,
Chucking toys and books,
He is tired,
but full of energy.

You have none,
You are broken,
Physically and mentally.

He wants to be picked up,
Carried and soothed,
Picking him up,
Your back twinges,
It’s pain,
But soothing him is more important.

He needs a nap,
But he refuses.

It’s raining,
It’s been raining for days,
But it’s the only way,
The only way he will sleep.

You get you both dressed,
Layered for the rain,
Wellies,
Coat,
Gloves,
Go!

He cries,
He doesn’t want to nap,
He is angry,
He is starting to drift off.

You are soaked,
Tired,
In pain,
You shush him,
He must sleep… right?

It’s just one of those days.

He sleeps,
You breath a sigh of relief,
You just have time to get changed
Make a cup of tea,
He is awake again.

He beams at you,
Happy energy surging,
He wants to play now,
He wants to run,
He wants to read.

He wants a cuddle,
He wants his mum,
His world,
His sunshine.

It’s just one of those days,
You think as you cuddle him.
