Zoella Splash Botanics collection – Review

In case you missed it (and do not religiously follow Zoella like I do) Zoella has recently dropped her new collection – Splash Botanics.

With Superdrug offering this collection, as well as some of her previous collections, at 3 for 2, I couldn’t resist picking up a few pieces that had caught my eye – Feelunique are also offering Zoella products at 20% off.

The Collection

Firstly, let’s just appreciate how gorgeous this collection looks, not just individually but together! The packaging feels fresh and full of summer energy, seeing the products together makes me want to own them all just for the photo opportunities.

Drench Me Bath Soak:

Add the drench me bath soak to make a gorgeous bubble bath. This comes in a 500ml carton, which resembles a juice carton. This looks amazing on the shelf and costs £6.95.

Make A Splash Moisturising Wash:

A moisturising gel body wash, this is available in 160ml. Zoella swears by this product for shaving her legs, and it comes in at £6.

SB Beautiful Cosmetic Bag:

No collection is complete without a matching cosmetic bag. This bag reflects the fresh look of the collection and looks to be a perfect size for your essentials. You can pick this up for £10.

Quench Me Moisturising Body Sorbet

Zoella’s Quench Me Moisturising Body Sorbet comes in the cutest packaging, resembling an ice cream pot, immediately making you think of summer! The pot has the pretty leaf design that follows through the collection. Whilst, not the largest of pots at 200ml it is perfect for getting you through the summer, with a screw on lid there is no chance of it coming loose in your bag/suitcase.

The product:

The body sorbet is advertised as a light gel, however, I would describe it more as a cream as it is not transparent or jelly-like. Either way, it is light and soft, when put onto the skin it rubs in easily and leaves barely any residue.

The collection has a strong ozonic scent; light, airy and fresh. With hints of lychee, the smell has a lovely tropical smell. The scent holds strong, hitting you as soon as you open the pot.

I have been using this after the bath and love it. It leaves the pot nicely and smoothly rubs into your skin. Leaving your skin feeling soft and hydrated, but with little residue. Putting on before going to bed, the scent was gorgeous and not overpowering – which I worried it would be after a while. When I woke the next day my skin still carried the scent!

Break it down:

The Quench Me Moisturising Body Sorbet is a great smelling product that certainly does what it claims – hydrating, soft and scented. Whilst I wish they offered a bigger pot, £7 is a great price point for what you get, especially in one of the two deals mentioned at the beginning of this review.

Aqua (Water/Eau), Propylene Glycol, C13-16 Isoparaffin, Sodium Polyacrylate Starch, Phenoxyethanol, Parfum (Fragrance), PEG-100 Stearate, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Caprylyl Glycol, C10-13 Isoparaffin, Glyceryl Stearate, Disodium EDTA, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Extract, Litchi Chinensis (Lychee) Fruit Extract, Citronellol.

So Soft Lip Oil

For me, the packaging for the So Soft Lip Oil is quite disappointing. It comes in a lovely 8ml pale pink tube with a leaf transfer on the screw on lid, which ties in beautifully with the rest of the range. However, the main label, showing the name of the product and the Zoella beauty brand has a bland white background and looks like a sticker that anyone could print off. Whilst it does work with the rest of the products, I felt it made the lip oil look cheap and slightly tacky.

I do believe that it would have looked much better with the information either printed directly on the tube or for the label to be transparent with the information attached – much like the leaf transfer. Although I worry that the leaf transfer will peel off or get dirty/scuffed in my bag.

The product:

Made from extracts of jojoba and argan oils, and sweet almond, the So Soft Lip Oil slides smoothly onto your lips. Once on it doesn’t feel too much, just a nice layer of oil to hydrate your lips. It does not have a tint or any sheen to it, so it is great for putting on alone, or before a coat of lipstick. I found that the oil sat on my lips for a good 40 minutes to an hour without feeling too tacky or sticky.

The oil has a hint of cherry scent to it, which smells lovely when applying. Once you have applied it, however, the scent does not linger.

The oil comes with an applicator wand which works so well for the product. For some reason, I assumed it would come with a roller ball applicator attached to the tube, so I was very happy to find the wand. Made up of a soft brush it is the perfect shape for applying to your lips without overdoing it. The brush came slightly tinted pink, which I assume was caused by one of the extracts in the oil.

Break it down:

I really like this product and love how soft/hydrated it leaves my lips. The size of the tube is perfect and has not left my handbag since it arrived. I am still disappointed with the packaging, as I feel as though it lets down such a great product, making it look cheap. The oil can be picked up for £5.

Octyldodecanol, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Ethylcellulose, Olus (Vegetable Oil/Huile Végétale), Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Argania Spinosa (Argan) Kernel Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Parfum (Fragrance), Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Extract, Aqua (Water/Eau), CI 19140 (Yellow 5), CI 45410 (Red 27).

Botanic’EAU Body Mist

The Bontanic’EAU Body Mist comes in a 45ml bottle, with the splash botanics print transferred onto the lid and back of the bottle. The lid simply pulls off but is strong enough that it wouldn’t pop off in your bag. The front of the bottle has a label with the product name on it, unlike the lip oil I feel that this works really well, as there is such a bold print on the back, you would not be able to read the information if it were transparent. The bottle itself is a nice chunky size that fits well into your hand.

The product:

Following the ozonic scent of the collection, the body mist is light, floral and fresh. Carrying notes of jasmine, lotus blossom, and freesia, the tropical mist is perfect for summer! Spraying on without feeling sticky, the scent is strong without overpowering you.

I find that the scent isn’t too overpowering and seems to compliment myself nicely. I once heard that if you stop smelling a scent once applied, that indicates it works for you – I don’t know if this is true, but if so, this product does exactly that. I asked my other half if he could still smell it at the end of the day, and he was surprised to find it just as strong as that morning!

Break it down:

This product has been an absolute staple since it arrived. I absolutely love the scent, it feels so fresh, summery and sophisticated. It lingers for the day, making it a perfect day-to-day wear! I think that it would work quite well as a unisex scent, as whilst it is floral, it isn’t too overwhelming or ‘feminine’. At just £8 you can be sure I will be buying a few to keep me going through summer.

Alcohol Denat., Aqua (Water/Eau), Parfum (Fragrance), PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Dipropylene Glycol, Glycerin, Propanediol, Phenoxyethanol, BHT, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, PPG-26-Buteth-26, Citronellol, Linalool.
